The Church of St. Giles with its cemetery is an important historical monument in southern Bohemia. In addition to being a national cultural monument, it is also listed on the UNESCO tentative list. The restoration work is financed by the municipality of Domanín u Třeboně, with support from the European Union's Integrated Regional Operational Program.

The project is divided into six interconnected stages, which address the reconstruction of the church itself, renovation work, and finally the restoration of the Renaissance frescoes in the church presbytery. Work on the church includes extensive repairs to the roof of the tower and bell tower. Damp-proofing work on the church and cemetery walls aims to reduce dampness and solve the problem of rainwater drainage. The project includes the construction of a new access road to the church and the renovation of mass grave’s area of and the large cross.
