Based on experiences and long-term implementation of restoration projects in Iraq GEMA ART prepared and organized the training Course of Restoration and Preservation of Paper for the team of experts of the restoration workshop and laboratory of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine Library in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq.

The special course was prepared according to the requirement of the restoration workshop and conservation laboratory of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine. The course organized with the University of Pardubice took place in its Faculty of Restoration located in the historical part of Litomyšl city. The Iraqi client sent to the Czech Republic three specialists in order to increase their knowledge, experience and their acquirement of a work with modern facilities and new technologies. The course program was focused specifically on the needs of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine restoration laboratory and workshop.

This course comprised a theoretical and a practical part taking advantage from the interactive teaching methods and excursion to the laboratories of the National Library of the Czech Republic, National Archive, Museums and other institutions participating in the preservation of the Czech written heritage.
